DBlogWeek: Poetry Tuesday

Today’s prompt: This year, Diabetes Blog Week and TuDiabetes are teaming up to bring out the poet in you! Write a poem, rhyme, ballad, haiku, or any other form of poetry about diabetes. After you’ve posted it on your blog, share it on the No Sugar Added® Poetry page on TuDiabetes, and read what others have shared there as well!

A small diabetic pleasure

Little orange cap popping off

Glimmer of happiness

In case you don’t understand that terrible haiku, one of my favorite things about diabetes (believe me there aren’t many) is when I open a new bottle of insulin.  There is just something so satisfying about popping the little orange (or purple or maroon) cap off an insulin bottle.  I don’t know why but I cherish it.  I savor it.  I tell my t1d friends and they jump on the bandwagon and join me in treasuring that half a second.  That sweet, tiny diabetic piece of happiness.

  1. I appreciate that you’re able to find a bit of happiness in the craziness of diabetes. I, too, love popping those little caps off. It’s almost like the pop top on a Diet Coke, but even more satisfying. Thanks for sharing!
